Racing at Myrtle Beach Speedway on May 31st! After hearing of news that Myrtle Beach Speedway would hold five special one hundred lap events prior to the Myrtle Beach 400 weekend in November with each winner being guaranteed a starting spot in the top seven for the main race, the team has made plans to attend the first of five races. With the success Tyler has had at three previous visits to the track racing in the SouthEast Limited Late Model Series, it made sense to go down for at least one of the races. Not only are the five winners given a starting position in the MB 400, they will race for thirty-five laps against one another along with the fastest two in qualifying that weekend for twenty-five hundred dollars! However you finish during that short race will determine the first seven starting positions for the main race. Keep up to date on everything with Tyler on our website!
A special thank you to all of the sponsors helping to make Tyler's career possible, Coca-Cola, Everett Chevrolet, Advance Auto Parts, A-Amazing Services, Dickinson Service Center and Church's Carpet!
Orange Blossom Special 150 After having bad luck in his PASS debut at Hickory, Tyler was offered to drive the car once more at the following race at Orange County Speedway. Being left more on his own at the race track, Tyler practiced and made many changes improving the handling of his car. With a crate engine in the car Tyler qualified in the fourteenth position for the one hundred and fifty lap event. Patiently making his way through the field, Tyler found himself riding in the tenth position around lap forty when the second caution of the race flew. After the restart, Tyler found himself on the outside of another driver going through turns three and four. Exiting the fourth turn, Tyler was slammed into the outside wall putting yet another early end to a race this season resulting in a twenty-fourth place finish.
The results do not show the ability of the driver nor the car. Tyler hasn't given up as well as the fans and sponsors that support him. Thanks again to everyone for the help and support! Coca-Cola, Everett Chevrolet, Dickinson Service Center, A-Amazing Services, Advance Auto Parts, and Churchs Carpet. Look for the familiar #07 to return to Hickory on May 5 for the Limited Late Model race!
PASS Easter Bunny 150 Easter weekend means more than any other with Jesus dying on the cross then rising on the third day.
As the Easter weekend came near, Tyler, his dad, Preston, Harold, and Ryan worked for over a month and a half preparing the car Tyler would make his debut in with the Pass Super Late Model Series. Friday was open practice where Tyler took to the track making some of his first laps in a straight rail car. Running many laps Tyler finally managed to run some of the fastest laps of the day by the stopwatch. Saturday morning Tyler and Preston both hit to the track in the first practice with Tyler setting the third best lap time of the session out of everyone. Making a few small changes, Tyler went out for the second of three practice sessions where he quickly climbed to the top of the speed charts! Qualifying eleventh Tyler made the race on time narrowly missing the top ten even though his laptime matched his practice times. As the race started, Tyler settled in line around the same spot he started pacing himself till the end. Twenty-two laps into the race, Tyler drove off into turn one and blew a right front tire. He kept control of the car and came to a stop in three and four bringing out the caution. By the time he made it to pit road and had the tire changed, the green flag had flew putting Tyler several laps down. Tyler had one of the strongest and fastest cars driving halfway through the field on several occasions only to get hit in the right side door breaking the exhaust causing fumes to enter the car. Tyler decided after still being a couple of laps behind to park the car instead of getting carbon-monoxide poisoning from the fumes resulting in a twenty-eight place finish. Tyler's potential to race with the upper level drivers is there, if only luck were on his side.
It was a privilege for Tyler to drive the series most recognized car of Preston Peltier's. Tyler would like to send out his appreciation to his own dad, along with Preston Peltier, Harold Johnson, and Ryan Turner for their efforts and support. Along with those mentioned Tyler would like recognize his sponsors for the race, Coca-Cola, Everett Chevrolet, Dickinson Service Center, and Church's Carpet!
Check back as Tyler may be driving the number 26c PASS Super Late Model again!
SouthEast Limited Late Model Series at Southern National Speedway Traveling four hours away to race at the reopened Southern National Speedway brought a lot of excitement to Tyler and the team! Friday practice went smooth with just a few issues that they quickly found and fixed. At the end of the day, Tyler was confident in his car for the race on Saturday. Mother nature had plans of her own as Saturday morning everyone woke up to rain eventually cancelling the days events at the track. On the way back home, Tyler and his dad decided to get the second car ready and take it to Hickory Speedway that evening. Rushing home and getting the car ready, everything was going great. Once at the track, the car was unloaded and ready to go only to find that the start wire had broken. Tyler and his dad temporarely fixed the problem in order to practice. Although fast during practice, qualifying held a different story as the car was way too loose for Tyler's liking. Tyler went straight to work on the car changing tires around, and making chassis adjustments as well. Starting from the 12th position, Tyler knew in the first hand full of laps he would be capable of winning. As luck would have it, several cars wrecked in-front of him causing a chain reaction with the car ahead and behind Tyler leaving them spinning to the bottom of the track. After restarting the race around the seventeenth position, Tyler made his way through the field to come across the line door to door with the second place car, finishing third with a car in one piece! A wild weekend turned into another great run by Tyler. A special thanks to his sponsors, Everett Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, A-Amazing Services, Dickinson Service Center, and Advance Auto Parts for all of their help and support. Tyler would also like to thank his Dad, Uncle Johnny, family and friends for their help as well! Check back later in the week for updates on Tyler's debut in the Pass Series National Event at Hickory Motor Speedway driving for Preston Peltier in the number 26C super late model!!!!
March 10, 2012 Hickory Season Opener The best time of the year for a racer is the first race of the season. March 10, 2012 was the first planned event Tyler would run racing at the Hickory Motor Speedway in the Limited Late Model Division. With a good car in first practice, Tyler elected not to run the second. As qualifying rolled around, the sun was out for about the first ten or so cars. Once it was time for Tyler to make his qualifying lap the sun had dissapeared behind the hillside cooling everything off not to mention he was the next to the last car to go out. Tyler only managed to qualify in ninth out of the twenty-three car field. Not happy with the car during qualifying Tyler made some big changes to the car and set out to win the race from that far back. As the green flag flew Tyler started making his way to the front slowly picking off cars. With about twelve laps to go Tyler made his way to the third position and knocking on the back door of the leaders. Nose to tail the top three went into turn one. The second place car went high in the middle of the corner leaving the door open for Tyler to get along side! Halfway down the backstretch though, Tyler noticed the leader had a little bit of smoke coming from the left front fender. Seeing the smoke Tyler tried to turn left away from the leader. Needing another foot or two Tyler would have made it past the leader as his engine blew and was hit from behind which turned him down the track into Tyler's right front cutting the tire. Tyler came down pit road to change the rf tire only to go back out under caution and realize something more than the tire was wrong. Parking the car and finishing fourteenth was not what Tyler and the team had in mind. Tyler had the car to win but under some wild circumstances didn't get to bring home the money or trophy. Keeping his head up Tyler will be back in action March 31 at the reopened Southern National Speedway in Kenly, N.C. for the South East Limited Late Model Series opening race.
Tyler would love to mention that he appreciates everything everyone has done over the winter getting things ready for this season! Thanks to Everett Chevrolet Buick GMC, Coca-Cola, A-Amazing Services, Advance Auto Parts along with Dickinson Service Center. A special thanks to Tyler's Dad, and uncle Johnny along with his family and friends! Keep up to date on Tyler's 2012 plans as big news will be announced soon!!
